Tim Russert is Dead
Tim Russert, the Moderator of Meet the Press has passed away due to heart attack.
I’m floored. It’s Friday night, I should be doing something more productive, like sitting on the curb of Dunkin Donuts parking lot drinking coffee, and smoking a cigarette. But today is different. I heard the news and shut down emotionally and physically. Sitting there, lonely in the break room, staring at the minimum wage poster, as the news was sinking in, I was hoping someone made a mistake and it was that dick Bill O’Reilly, or even that bitch Ann Coulter that has kicked the bucket. but deep down I knew it was Timmy who has left us… I just knew. Plus it was all over the radio… radio doesn’t lie like that. Just to make sure I looked at calendar, it wasn’t April fools.
I guess its true, only good die young. I hate how that is always the truth. Somehow, someway, dicks like Bill or Ann will live forever, to torture my kids, and kids of those kids… I’m sure of that. If anyone knew politics, knew reporting, knew how to entertain us with that white board it was Tim, a great Buffalonian too. Open point of view, classy, composed posture, respectable and honest journalism will be buried along with him. I’m sure it will be very hard for someone to fit Tim’s shoes on the camera. On one hand, with utter most respect to Tim I hope no one will even attempt to replace him or his style, on the other hand, for the sake of whats left of media, and for our kids sake I hope they will find a replacement. I don’t know.
Not only a staple of my Sundays but I was also looking forward to watch his commentary on the election night… and I’m sure that I’m not alone on this one
I’m glad that at least he went out doing what he does best on the set of Meet The Press. I’m glad that he went quick, as such an honorable man, doesnt deserve anything else at the beginning of his journey. I’m glad that he spend his last days with his family, celebrating the graduation of his son from Boston College.
R.I.P Tim Russert 1950-2008 Chimbles.com salutes you, and for what it’s worth I hope it an honor. Godspeed.
James Carville and Mary Matalin break down during last week’s taping of the first Meet the Press without Tim Russert in 17 years.
